This morning, “Mariner of the Seas” came in port of Naples, and I went there to meet it. I got this advantage to take photos and to tell you about the completely “new” building of the port of Naples.
The new idea of the building of the port is to create a big shopping center there. I read it will be build an other part where all the persons will find anything they can imagine. The old part was restructured and opened for visits on March, 30.

There are many different shops and bars actually but many of them are close else. And even information for tourists was not available. Someone said, they open only on Saturdays and Sundays, others said, the offices begin to work from May. In any case, if you have to come in Naples and have not a guide that waits for you, it will be clever to have the useful information, maps etc with you. It can happen that you will not find them in the place you want to visit (Pompeii, as an other example -you probably will remember my report about our visit a year ago). Cruise ships arrive in the center of the city where are the most interesting touristic attractions. They are only some passes far from this place and you can see some of them just from the ship.
Here is the view you will see when you go out from the Gallery of the commercial center.

If you have only some hours and want to see Naples from the open deck of the bus -it’s the best solution, the bus (2 hours of taxi cost about 70 euros, taxi till Pompeii -about 90 -but you have to remember that these are prices of the moment). Here, on my map, you can see the 4 itineraries (the last is not full but visits really spectacular places till Posilipo). Every of them is about 1,5 hours long and you can take 3 itineraries paying 22 euros every day and 4 -on Sunday and Saturday. The short itinerary will take about an hour. So, if you have enough time for 3 lines and want to sit all this time -there is nothing better.

You can surely make a splendid walk visiting the most famous (in all the world) bars and pizzerias (Do you like pizza “Margherita”? The pizzeria that cooked it for the queen Margherita is very very nice and still open!) and all the interesting places beginning from Maschio Angioino (my previous articles). This part of Naples is very beautiful. And, if you like history, there is even a sanctuary the first Greeks used, those Greeks who founded the city, here, too! I’ll tell you about it in one of my next articles in this blog.

It is not old, it’s very old. The first sailors came here in IX BC. But the building is from the period of Fashismus (finished in 1936) when they wanted to show the glory everywhere (Naples was the most important port for the transportations in the colonies of Italy).
It’s possible to see the guns that saluted and protected the town, too. We have to visit Castel del Ovo (about one km far). I’ll write about it in one of my next posts.
